ABOUT THE ARCHIVE

The record
comes first.

A Then & Found game about reasoning from historical evidence, including knowing what the evidence does not establish.

Genuine artifacts. Clear context.

Images are sourced photographs, maps, prints and documents. Resizing and compression improve delivery; historical contents are not generated or silently altered. Each reveal links the item and its rights record. Descriptions, translations and catalog digests are labeled editorial context. Authentication exercises label modified exercise text beside an unchanged original.

A reviewable publishing process.

Cases are checked for source facts, commercial-use rights, answers present in the packet, independent clues, plausible alternatives and readable descriptions. AI-assisted editorial review is identified. Human blind playtesting is a separate check and is not claimed where it has not happened. Report ambiguity when a finding is not justified.

Source institutions and independence.

Records are held by the Library of Congress, Wellcome Collection, NASA, the National Archives and museum open-access collections. Attribution does not imply endorsement or partnership. Case proposals and collaboration enquiries are welcome.
