Essential game records.
A secure HTTP-only cookie identifies an anonymous profile. The service stores attempt times, hints, submitted answer IDs, citations, scores and case revisions to enforce first attempts and restore results. Recovery keys are stored as hashes. Your scratchpad, theory prose and bookmarks stay in browser storage and are not included in scored submissions.
Optional measurements.
Metrics are off by default. Opting in records bounded game events, case/step IDs, step duration, referral categories and experiment variants. Technical reports contain a fixed error code and route category. No raw IPs, complete URLs, credentials, notes or free-text theories are collected for analytics. Security rate limits temporarily store hashed network keys. Hosting providers may keep ordinary infrastructure logs.
Mail and purchases.
The case letter requires an email and confirmation, and every letter offers cancellation. If purchases are enabled, Stripe processes payment details; the game receives entitlement and transaction IDs, not cards. Resend handles mail when configured. Optional ads appear after reveals, subject to consent and provider approval.
Your controls.
Download or clear local files in your profile. Deleting the server profile removes its attempts, sessions, entitlements and optional event history; feedback is detached. Mail subscriptions have a separate unsubscribe link. Save a recovery key and transaction details before deleting a profile with a purchase.
